I vote for having the ability to modify retention policies for specific interfaces. For example, we would create an interface custom property. Then we'd use that custom property to set the detailed statistics retention policy to a custom value.

I would really like to have such option, as most customers have more and less important nodes/interfaces.
For example, we could use higher retention for core network devices and lower for endpoint switches.

Totally agree, getting trending from a year ago is of not much use if all of the bandwidth metrics are summarized to the average for the whole day. We cold be running at 80% during the day, but with the almost 0% at night, the summarized data comes back closer to 40%. Not useful at all for planning.
I only have a certain set of key interfaces that I would like to keep detailed information on, for the rest let them do the default.
