In general people panic when first look at Solarwinds and see a bunch of small red blinking warning lights on a dashboard or a view. Red usually is bad and, if enabled, red blinking is really really bad. Yet the default setting for all managed interfaces is to alert when their down. I propose a feature request that one could change all interfaces to display as unplugged rather than down. Or at the very lease an easier way to mass edit interfaces or change them to that state when the node is first discovered. I'm guessing that most people don't want the ability to see issues on the CTO's interface to help troubleshoot an issue if it called upon, but they don't want a red blinking light in Solarwinds when the CTO unplugs the laptop to go home. One of the selling points of Solarwinds is to lesson the "noise" factor, yet having red solid or blinking indicators on all access layer interfaces is nothing but noise.
