Is this going to be available to download from an alternate source than FileHippo? We block all sites that distribute 'free' software. The solarwinds url in the Package wizard leads to a dead page:
http://www.solarwinds.com/cs2012/20.0.1132.47_chrome_installer.exe
Whereas the url on the Import Source page of the wizard points to FileHippo.
We also block filehippo at our firewall. I usually end up grabbing the update from another source. There are many ways to download an update.
I usually use www.oldapps.com, but there are many legitimate download sites that may not be blocked by your web blocking solution.
UKTonyK,
Could you explain or post a screenshot of where that link can be found on the site? I'm also inquiring about your question. I'll report back here once I have an answer for you.
Thanks,
Danielle
Normally we would prefer to include the file direct from the chrome site; however, in this instance, the wrong file has been posted for Chrome 20.
The file available on the Chrome site is listed as chrome_installer.exe, but it’s actually the Chrome Updater file (which will not install silently via WUA).
FileHippo extracted the actual chrome_installer.exe and posted it to their website, which limited the amount of shenanigans customers would need to go through to get the necessary chrome_installer.exe file.
Try this: http://dl.google.com/edgedl/chrome/win/20.0.1132.47_chrome_installer.exe . I typically keep track of these when I publish this package because we block Filehippo as well.
Tonya sends along a big Thank You for the link at dl.google.com!
Nice! I'm glad that it worked. It does not work with every build, but you can sometimes link the download of Chrome by changing the first part of that file name to match the build you need.
Hope Tonya is doing well.
