I recently came across a problem where I needed to add a UnDP to a Hyper-V host, but couldn't. After realising my failure to add the poller was down to the fact the server isn't actually polled via SNMP (D'oh), I had a lightbulb moment and decided to put in a feature request to enable 'UnDP Polling' where a server is managed via WMI.
How would this work? Well, it'll basically enable dual polling for these nodes, but a mechanic would be put in place so that only the matching MIB information would be kept, the rest would be discarded. There would be a new check box in the 'Edit Node' details, visible when you select ICMP & WMI as the node management method, which simply states 'Enable UnDP Polling'.
If this checkbox is enabled, the 'Assign Pollers' button at the top of 'Manage Nodes' will become enabled for this node when selected, and you can also assign poillers using the UnDP desktop app. Also, if adding a node manually, you will be able to assign pollers when going through the wizard.
