http link in node details

Hello,

I recently started using the http link in the node details to allow out NOC direct access to our network drawings in SharePoint. However SharePoint seems to be link heavy and the folder location for my drawings is 362 characters long. There seems to be a limitation of 255 characters in the field. Is it possible to expand this field for a longer link?

The only current way I can think of is to use the "User Links" resource. But you are limited to 10 entries and if someone ever renames a file, the link breaks. That said, I'm willing to bet that also has a character limit of 255. A much better method would be a resource that lists the contents of an external folder (SharePoint folder) and refreshes that list on a periodic basis; but I doubt that could be done.

My counterpart found a workable solution. Instead of using the node details link, create a "custom HTML" resource on the NOC view. Then use this iframe code:

Replace the BOLD area with the link for your centralized SharePoint document library. Then add the display form code so it will display correctly on whatever browser you use. It will work fine on IE without it, but if you use Firefox, you need to have that extra code; and it should work on Chrome as well.

I tried this and it won't show the sharepoint site (probably because of the sso login requirment for our SharePoint site), it does have a link to open it in a new page for SharePoint so it sort of solves the issue, at least for now. Thnaks for the work around.
