I'd like to see if SolarWinds could make it easier to create alerts.
Follow with me here...
Today I needed to create an alert based on a specific port on a firewall to monitor for up/down. It would be so nice if I could drill down to that specific port, and then have a button there that says, "Create Alert".
Instead, I had to go in and define the node to look at for the scope of the alert, then I had to go in and set the actual trigger condition based on the interface. While in the trigger condition, in the interface object, I had to search through and find the correct metrics to get SolarWinds to point to that specific interface.
It seems like it could have been much simpler if I could just drill down to the node, or all the way down to an interface, and click a button to say "Hey, I need an alert on this object and/or possibly other objects just like it." It would be nice to do this for groups, nodes, interfaces, etc
Am I wrong here? This wouldn't be a bad thing, would it?
