Edit resources?

In Orion 9.1 you had the ability to edit/create resources that you could use on your web page. Can you do the same thing in EOC 1.1?

I have several resources I need to either add or edit current ones.

For example, the global Active Alerts shows a LOT of alerts. I want to modify the resource to show only the last 25.

Is this possible and if so where are they hiding?

Being new to the product, I didn't know about a database hack that addresses your specific question. You can enabled a resource to allow you to edit the number of rows it will display. Here is the T-SQL that you need to run on the EOC database to allow you to edit the max row count for the Global Active Alerts resource..

UPDATE [EOC_Resource] SET [ResourceConfiguration] = REPLACE(CONVERT(nvarchar(max), [ResourceConfiguration]), '<AllowRowCountEdit>false', '<AllowRowCountEdit>true') WHERE [ResourceID] = 'Orion.GlobalActiveAlerts'

After that, you'll need to restart IIS. Then open the EOC home page and click the "Edit" button on the Global Active Alerts resource. Now you'll see a text box where you can enter in the max number of rows to display.

NOTE: The resource doesn't indicate that it is limiting to this number of rows, so you'll want to change the title or sub-title.

NOTE: If you rerun the Config Wizard, this ability will be taken away and you'll need to re-run the T-SQL again.

Well golly, guess I did ask, in a way. Maybe my old brain can't keep up with all of this new fangled stuff that Solarwinds is putting out.....

Doesn't hurt to keep pushing for change right????

Also, on older versions of SQL Server, it doesn't recognize the term nvarchar(max), you'll need to replace that with nvarchar(4000) instead.

One last note, if you change the title to 'Top XX Global Active Alerts', the XX will get replaced on the resource and you'll get something like ''Top 25 Global Active Alerts'.
