Alert Suppression / Alert Triggers based on a specific date and time

I am quite sure this horse has been flogged many times, but I can not find an answer.

I wish to reboot my servers on each saturday between the hours of 08:00 and 11:00. and not be paged when they go up / down.

In looking at the advanced alert manger I see may classes of fields, even a daytime field, but I do not see a field to specify a time (say TIME) and a day of the week, say (DOW), so that one can say SUPRESS an alert if ALL the following are true

DOW IS SAT & TIME IS > 08:00 & TIME IS < 11:00

Or is there some magic to the day/time fields within the Time of Day tab...

i asked for this years ago and no joy. what i had to do instead, is have a custom prop that says "alert on reboot". this is defined as TRUE in the alert trigger. there is a sql job that runs and sets it to false at defined time, and sets back to true after the window

at least i think thats what we did, and it should stop the alert coming in

in the end, we deleted these jobs though and just let the service desk know they were rebooting and to ignore them, as once this was offered, we got tons of requests for it :-(

Not being alerted when these servers reboot is the desired result but I'm not sure controlling this through the Advanced Alert Manager is the best route to go. It may seem the most obvious but while you won't be alerted, this anticipated/scheduled downtime will count against your availability.

What I would recommend using instead is the Unmanage Scheduling Utility included with SAM to unmanage these nodes during this time. The Unmanage Scheduling Utility allows for much more granular time periods such as every Saturday between 8-10am. In fact you have all the flexibility that the Windows Task Scheduler affords.

The end result is that these nodes will become unmanaged, and as such you will not be notified if they reboot during this time.

does it not send a reboot alert when the node is re-managed? i am sure it ued to in previous versions, as lastboot will have changed since last poll... just a thought
