Disk Space Alert form Integrated VMM

Using NPM 12.3 HF5 and VMM 8.2.1 integrated (not stand alone appliance). We have 200 VDI windows 7 machines we wish to monitor for disk space. I have been doing this with powerCLI but I wish to move everything like this into SolarWinds for NOC views and centralized alerting. We do not wish to add these as nodes or use SAM against them is it possible to fire a disk space alert based on data coming into VMM ?

Have you considered using the OOTB alert named: Guest storage space utilization?

You would simply want to set up wmi monitoring for the relevant vdi windows machines, and then that out of the box alert should give you a similar estimation.

Thanks you so much! It's odd, I couldn't see this alert definition in my prod but its there in my lab! had to re-install VMM 8 to get tic. Thanks for your help Serena.

I just converted from the VMAN appliance to the integrated poller in Orion. With the appliance, this alert seemed to just use the information from vCenter from the info reported to it by guest tools. Can you confirm that I now have to monitor with WMI too? Will that require another license, like NPM/SAM?

If you want additional visibility, you can monitor it with WMI as well if you would rather not depend on the data reported by guest tools. If you would like to do this, the manage the VM as a node using WMI. Depending on how much of your VMAN license you're using, any remaining capacity can be used to monitor nodes so additional licenses may not be necessary. Do you have SAM or NPM licenses to use to increase your capacity for monitoring your critical VMs as nodes?

I opened a ticket with support. Native Orion VMAN polling is seeing the capacity issue through guest tools and has the OOB 5% alarm enabled, but for whatever reason the condition isn't activating the alarm.
