Alerts haven't been triggering for hardware failures and upon investigation my findings show something I don't understand or isn't working related to custom properties on Noes.
I set up an alert for Hardware Sensor - All child conditions must be Satisfied (AND)
- Hardware Sensor - Status Description - Is equal to - Critical
When I go to the summary page it shows that the alert will be triggered on one item immediately since there is a server with a critical hardware failure currently. Also, if I click on the All objects in my environment (Show List) link that critical hardware sensor will show.
If I change the trigger condition to include a custom property called ServerFunction used on a node with an AND like this:
Node - ServerFunction - Is not equal to - UKDC
I notice that the UKDC, which is a valid entry for that field on the node does come up and a select-able choice for the field. However now when I click the link Show List link, or go to the summary it now states that there are 0 alerts that will be immediately triggered.
The node in question has a blank ServerFunction field on it.
I also tested with something simple in place of the ServerFunction field and added a condition that said Node - Node Name - Is not blank and that works.
It appears there is a problem with Custom Properties in this instance, or something I do not understand happening.
Has then been seen before and if so is there a fix or method to make it work I am not aware of?
