Received my alert, but it took 29 minutes

Hi,

I created an alert in APM to send me an email when a drive (volume) goes offline. I received this alert 1 minute after it happened.

I also created an alert in APM to send me an email when this drive comes back ONLINE. I received this alert as well, but for some reason, it took 29 minutes before I received the email. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks very much.

Would not "volume left OFFLINE status" be sufficient condition for sending second email? If so, I would recommend to configure "Reset Action" of first alert instead of creating two alerts for monitoring same property.

The default polling interval for volumes is 15 minutes so I'm not entirely sure why it would have taken upwards of 29 minutes to receive the alert. Can you post a screenshot of your Trigger Condition and Trigger Reset Action?

Thank you for your help. For the record, the drive went offline again last night for maintenance, and when it came back online, the alert went out 2 or 3 minutes later. So it worked correctly.

Here's a screen shot of the trigger condition and also of the poll settings I have for this set for this drive. I did not create a Trigger Reset Action...perhaps that's the issue? I'm still very new to APM. trigger condition.PNG

I agree with Petr's assessment. I would recommend using the Reset Actions to send the email notification when the alert trigger condition is no longer true. This should significantly simplify your alerting while improving its performance and reliability.

Thanks to both of you. Still learning my way around...didn't realize it was possible to make one alert do both. I've adjusted my alert and all is well. Thanks very much!
