Hi,
I have what may well be a very basic question. I wasn't able to find it in the archives so I apologize in advance if this is an epic fail of a post. :-)
Here's the back story. Currently whenever nodes are added the user selects "All Interfaces" for monitoring. This is all fine and good but we then get a laundry list of switches in the "Nodes with Problems" pane simply because not all switches have all ports connected to something. My questions are as follows:
1) Say I add a device (for example a firewall) with four interfaces of which only three active and configured. When adding the node I select "All Active Interfaces". Three weeks later I configure and activate the fourth port. Will this fourth interface automatically be included in the list of monitored interfaces at the next rediscovery interval or will I now need to edit the node properties?
2) If I select specific active interfaces when adding a layer 2 switch (say only the uplinks) will the next discovery interval add all those end station ports I don't want included?
The reason for all this is I want the Nodes with Problems pane to show only actual problems and not pretty much my entire network as it does now. Furthermore, I'd prefer if the routers and firewalls didn't have to be modified each time a new interface is activated but understand that may not be possible.
My apologies for the long windedness. I hope this makes sense.
