All services are stopped on the server for SQL Sentry, I am sharing a SQL Database on a server, and SQLSentry is there as well. I set the sql sentry services (Sentry One) to manual and restarted the server. I continue to get the following error: You have selected to upgrade SolarWinds SQL Sentry database, however setup was unable to obtain exclusive access. Please stop any running instances of the SolarWinds WQL Sentry Client or SolarWinds SQL Sentry Monitoring Service.
I am assuming that this means that a process is maintaining an active connection to the SQL Sentry database, preventing the installer from acquiring the necessary exclusive lock to perform the schema upgrade.
I enlisted my DBA's assistance to Identify and kill any persistent connections.
I ran the installer again and received the same message.
You have selected to upgrade SolarWinds SQL Sentry database, however setup was unable to obtain exclusive access. Please stop any running instances of the SolarWinds WQL Sentry Client or SolarWinds SQL Sentry Monitoring Service.
I feel like I am going down a rabbit hole... do we force the database into single-user mode?
Waiting on my DBA for this step, he wants to try single-user mode! While I wait, thought I would drop my peeps here at THE THWACK a line about the issue.
Anyone have this issue before? We are a small installation; the server's primary use is to run reports off a different application. The 2 SQL instances have been doing well on the same server, I just can't get the upgrade to run!
