How to Collect Request packet per minute on F5 LB and Juniper Firewall

Hi team,

Recently we have run into a few cases where the Incoming request (per minute) have passed our device limit and affecting the internal network.

Appreciated if someone can guide me or enlighten my how to collect the Incoming request (per minute) for the below devices:

1. F5 Load balancer
2. Juniper Firewall

My target is to create a dashboard to monitor the devices's:

• Number of new request per minute
• Concurrent request per minute

Follow by that I will be setting up email alert/ notifications for the monitoring team when the new request reach 5000/min or concurrent reach 20000/min (number are only for instance).

I've not come across 'request per minute' as a term before but you use concurrent later. This leads me to think you want to observe the connections on the devices, and if that is the case then you simply need to build yourself a UnDP - see here for steps: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/npm/content/core-creating-universal-device-pollers-sw551.htm 

We don't have any Juniper FWs but we do this with Palo Alto FWs and also with CheckPoints. Once the UnDP is built and assigned you should be able to build your alert from that, or display it [as we do] as a graph on your vital stats page or similar.

What you need is to identify the most likely OID on the end device to collect the relevant aspect and then build out from that. A quick search suggests this for the F5:  ltmPoolStatServerCurConns OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.5.2.3.1.8
