Importing assets from inventory system into SolarWinds

Hi,

Our asset inventory system tracks all our IT resources, which we plan to regularly import and update in SolarWinds for monitoring purposes.

While I've found that SWIS lets you add or update custom properties for existing entities, I haven't figured out how to add new entities via the API. Any advice on achieving this?

(We're running a self-hosted version of SolarWinds.)

Upload Custom Properties - Scripts - The SolarWinds Platform - THWACK Take a look at the script and how it is updating custom properties. Adding custom properties to the is best dome via the Web Console. You can add them directly to the database but that is risky. The safest method is via the GUI. The above link can help you populate them once they have been created.

I have looked at github and the wiki and the API documentation already and I understand how to update existing properties. The problem is I don't find the information I expect/need.

Maybe I phrase my question in the wrong way. The problem is that I don't want to add things manually in SolarWinds. I want to build an integration that exports the assets at regular interval from our inventory system to SolarWinds. I don't know if Custom Properties really have something to do with it, the question is how to move asset information from one system to the other.
