I’ve recently started exploring different monitoring approaches and thought it would be great to make this interactive. How can you effectively monitor HA mode and all configured site-to-site VPN tunnels in a Cisco ASA firewall?

b. But I did have a customer recently who claimed I didn't know what I was doing because I wasn't using WMI to monitor a Linux system. Maybe he knows something NONE of the rest of us know. Good luck with the SCP. I'm supposed to get mine before the end of the year

Haha, that sounds like a unique customer! hope you get your SCP soon....

Unique doesn't even come close. He also deleted everything in Solarwinds that was RED as "It obviously hasn't been set up properly". That included servers which were having issues and needed to be investigated urgently.

dont feel bad, you not alone. the best method I use to monitor our Linux is agent based polling, effortless.

We monitor customers systems so aren't usually allowed to install agents. It can be difficult to even get them to allow SNMP configuration. It's the usual problem. They believe some garbage they read on the internet instead of the IT professional who actually knows what they are talking about.

Totally agree, getting customer approvals for even basic monitoring can be the toughest part....

Guess he must’ve thought every RED alert was a false alert. SolarWinds surely kept him busy!
