IPAM search for DNS record

Hi,

I'm looking at the possibility to introduce Solarwinds IPAM as our IPAM tool. Fiddling around with it I seem to can't find the ability to search for DNS records over all DNS zones known to IPAM. Is this feature available or not?

If not, than frankly I'm out...

I don't see that specific feature you are looking for, but if IPAM fetches the hostname via reverse lookup of the IP, you can search for that on the Manage Subnets and IP Address Part.

You can also file for a feature request.

I don't know if this helps, but there might be a SWQL query you can make and add as a dashboard or run as a report. Below is everything you can pull from IPAM.DnsRecord. It includes DNSRecordId and DnsZoneId which I thought might be helpful.

SELECT Data, Description, DisplayName, DnsRecordId, DnsZoneId, InstanceSiteId, InstanceType, IPAddressN, Name, Type, Uri FROM IPAM.DnsRecord
