Assistance Required for Bulk Maintenance Window Scheduling in SolarWinds

In my current environment, SolarWinds is directly integrated with ServiceNow. I’m seeking guidance on how to efficiently schedule maintenance windows in bulk, especially during our monthly patching cycles.

Whenever patching is planned for a large number of servers within a specific time frame, I would like to apply maintenance windows across all affected servers in a streamlined and automated manner. Could you please advise on the best approach or available tools/features within ServiceNow or SolarWinds that can help simplify this process?

I’m looking for a method that minimizes manual effort and ensures accurate scheduling for multiple servers at once.

The easiest way is to use "manage nodes", and mark several nodes, click "maintenance mode" and choose a schedule for all of them at once.

If you want to automate things, there is also the possibility to create for example a powershell script that assigns nodes to a schedule.

Observability just got new possibilities regarding reoccurring maintenance windows. Are you on the latest version? (2025.2.1 as of now)

Yes i am on a latest version 2025.2. I don't want to manually go to manage node and assign maintenance mode for the bulk servers. I am looking easiest method. I can select any custom property and applied the maintenance window. I am looking for right now patching servers. If you have seen patching related cases. then please let me know. Thanks in advance!!

If you have the maintenance windows in ServiceNow currently, and want them to be reflected into SolarWinds, I guess you need some script that pulls that data from ServiceNow and pushes it into SolarWinds. Perfectly doable but I don't have any examples currently.

I haven't updated these scripts in a long time, but i have done what you are asking before.

This example script has a basic example for muting and unmanaging nodes in the SW API

and this one is an example of connecting my SNOW CMDB API to Orion to set custom properties. Your use case is different but fundamentally getting connected to snow and using that to feed a list of actions into SW would be along these lines.

If your team has anyone who knows how to script across API's it would be like an hour or less to build out what you want.
