AppInsight for SQL - top fragmented indexes do not display

Greetings All.

Background:

SW HCO Self-Hosted 2024.4.1

DPA configured and appears to work as expected.

One SQL instance monitored with AppInsight for SQL and DPA.

I have recently un-registered my DPA server and re-registered with DPAIM.

Displays seem to work fine, except...

Top fragmented indexes (Clustered and NonClustered) widget(s) do not display. Just the header. No data.

This problem has been present for a number of months (wasn't the squeaky wheel - other problems to fix).

The thing is - My AppInsight for SQL sets a 'Red' health state in the navigation tree Instance >> database >> open >> Top Indexes for Database, so it seems to understand when an index has high fragmentation.

I welcome any insight from the community on how I can troubleshoot the non-display of top fragmented indexes?

Hi @robert777 , if I remember correct there is a bug in that version for just the issue you are describing. Some SQL instances miss some data, for example top fragmentation indexes. Think it was fixed in 2025.1.1

I chased this one down with SolarWinds Support. The condition described is a documented bug:

Case # 01855923 - selected data tiles do not populate in AppInsight for SQL:

"Top 10 Databases by Active User Connections"
"Top 10 Expensive Queries by CPU Time"
"Top 10 Clustered Indexes by Fragmentation"

Reported in 2024.4.x

Fixed in 2025.2.1 GA ("General Availability") release slated for 22 July 2025.
