Serial Number for all devices using SNMP discovery

Can we pull the device serial number while onboarding the device on to Solarwinds, without adding another custom poller?

I want to add the serial number as a system property like how IOS version and Machine Type comes up on the Node Details widget in Device Summary.

Yes, you can find the serial number of a device in the Hardware Details widget within SolarWinds

In SolarWinds, the Node Details widget is not directly editable. However, you can still display the serial number by using Custom Properties.

There are two values in Solarwinds that I wish to have persist if the device were to go down. They are Service Tag, which is always the device Serial Number and Model which is more reliable and accurate than Solarwinds "Machine Type". I created a custom property for each of those and have a weekly Alert that scans all my nodes and if any nodes has either no value in the custom field or a different value (if the node hardware were replaced) then it copies the value to my custom property. It's really useful.
