Older versions of the DameWare products are no longer available. The current version is v10.

In order to be provided with a temporary link to download an older unsupported version of the software, you will need to send your request along with your license number

True, that discussion from June, 2009, does suggest that is a solution; however, that solution is no longer available. Version 6.9 was originally released in April, 2010. It was a significant upgrade (added support for Windows 7), so it's somewhat surprising that you've not already upgraded.
However, two years ago SolarWinds acquired DameWare. The licensing model for DameWare was changed with the release of version 8 in March, 2012. With that release, DameWare moved to an annual maintenance licensing model. All technical support for versions prior to 7.0 expired in December, 2012. This was announced with the release of version 9 in September, 2012.
Today your only available option for upgrading is to purchase a new license for version 10.
