Greetings All.
I have recently inherited a SolarWinds system (2024.4.1 HCO Self-Hosted) which has HA set up for the polling servers. HA multi-site meaning we have a poller in datacenter1 and a matching poller in datacenter2.
For clarity using convention
data1 - datacenter1
data2 - datacenter2
I suspect the HA does not work as intended. From reading I understand that we need a "Virtual Hostname". This host exists in DNS as 'ha-poller1'. Also reading that on failover an Alert should fire with Alert Action script to change the IP of the DNs record for 'ha-poller1' to the IP address of the poller in data2.
I don't see any such Alert or Alert Action.
When I fail over poller1 from data1 to data2, checking with PING, the IP address of the virtual hostname does not change to the IP address of the poller in data2 (however, under My Deployment it appears that the failover completed successfully).
I suspect at least a part of my HA implementation is broke.
At my company we have a SolarWinds support agreement. Most likely I will be talking with support sometime soon. However, before opening the ticket I wanted to post here on Thwack. Can someone in the community let me know if I'm just missing something, or if this looks like a real problem that needs working out with support?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
