After upgrading to the latest NCM release, the solarwinds configurations wizard fails at the step below.
The config archive directory is already created. Am I looking at a permissions issue?
The issue seemed to be our firewall policy was not properly applying to the server so it wasn't able to communicate to SQL server properly
You could try as it suggests, and run the permission checker (Located in your install directory, drive:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\OrionPermissionChecker.exe) (or something along those lines -- pretty sure it starts with Orion). Alternatively, you could try renaming the existing config archive directory (Config_archive_old for example) and running the wizard, and allow it to try to recreate the directory. You could also check both NTFS permissions (right click folder - properties - Security tab) and Share permissions (Right click - sharing OR "Give access to"). Also of note, if sharing of the folder is configured, share permissions will override NTFS.
Thank you for the reply. I just resolved the permission issue by reverting to a snapshot and updating the NCM archive credentials using this link Give NCM write access to a non-default location or a network share.
Currently still run into an error in the same spot of the configuration wizard,
Cool! Less errors is better, sometimes! You may be able to get more info by checking the config wizard log (C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion\ConfigurationWizard.log). I'd say maybe go to the end of the file and CTRL-F and search Up, look for the error, and check the entries directly before it. Sometimes you get better info by doing that.
I'm recalling that I've gotten that error or something similar I think, but cannot remember the solution. Have you checked the SQL server to see if it's happy? We frequently have issues related to a pending restart for Microsoft updates... You also might be able to see something in the SQL server logs.
