We have a spotty issue here that I am going to try and explain the best I can.
We have an automated process for server decommissions and part of this automated process unmanages nodes in Solarwinds as part of the decommission process. This has been working with no issues up until recently and works correctly 90% of the time.
Our issue -
- Nodes are powered off in VMWare but Solarwinds is still seeing the nodes as up.
- Nodes were polling as unknown in Solarwinds but are down.
- Unmanaged nodes earlier this morning to clear up any issues.
- Re-managed the nodes to see if they would show as down but now show as unknown.
- tried running a new poll on the nodes and nothing changes. The show as unknown.
Is there some place I can check and see where these nodes are getting stuck at unknown?
I had this issue with 2025.1.1 and 2024.4.1 so I do not think it is an Orion issue since it seems that VMWare is not reporting back correctly.
