I have been asked to help install SEM in AWS. Once SEM is in AWS, can it still monitor on-premises nodes?

Yes, as long as there is network connectivity for the agent to talk back to the SEM virtual appliance AND/OR for syslog to be sent from devices to the SEM virtual appliance
