I am currently struggling with Intelligent Maps (Orion Maps) permissions. We have over 50 different engineers who will at any time be looking to use or update SolarWinds maps. As we use some of the more common maps created for service pages or Dashboard integration, we have decided to lock those maps.
The permissions now mean that a normal user account can view all Public maps, which is great, and they can create and edit their own maps, again great. The problem comes if we want engineers to be able to add images. The permission to add images is only allowed if the user is also set to be able to manage all maps. So if we want engineers to be able to add images to the maps, we have to make them map admins, at which point they can edit any map in the system!
Surely this is a bug? I am interested in hearing what others are doing to overcome this. Do you let your teams manage all maps, or do you restrict map access to a small team?
