Account cannot read write in folder

Hello,

I'm brand new to supporting an SFTP server and I have what could be a very basic question.

A user is reporting that they cannot read or write to the following folders:

\\server01\store\Results\
\\server01\store\Results\Processed
\\server01\store\Results\Processed_old
\\server01\store\Results\Staging
\\server01\store\Results\Staging_old

When I open the Directory Access tab for the user I can see the following listed:

PATH ACCESS

\\server01\store\Results\ RWADNELCRNI
\\server01\store\Results\Processed RWADNELCRNI
%HOME% RWADNELCRNI
Z:\SFTP\SFTP_user RW------L-----I

I have tried moving the permissions up and down using the arrows, adding or removing explicit permissions on the Directory Access tab, this appears to have no affect as to what the user sees when they log in or out.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Check the service account Serv-U is using if it has access to those UNC path. Check via Services.msc and look for Serv-U

I did the following:
1. Created a brand-new account for testing.
2. Created a folder structure including a top-level folder and several sub-folders
3. On the directory Access tab I added the folder (E:\SFTP\my_test and granted RWADNELCRNI permissions.
4. I have confirmed that the service account the serv-U uses (checked services.msc) has FC access to the file level permissions.
5. This appears to have no effect, I can still only see my home directory for my test account.

I'm saving my changes to the account and logging out and logging back in via SFTP, but nothing I'm doing appears to have any effect on the folders visible. Anything else I can check? I'm brand new to this, so I have a feeling I am missing a basic setting.

so what you are doing is the right thing. What I'm recommending is for you to check the service account being used by Serv-U. if the service account being used by serv-u is does not have the right permissions to the path, it cannot give access to those created accounts.

I figured it out in the end. Although the permissions were correct, it was actually the Virtual Paths which were not configured, so the user wasn't seeing these folders when they logged in. Once I figured that it everything worked.
