Exporting and Importing IPAM Data?

Hi THWACK,

Recently migrated from a large deployment onto two separate deployments in two separate domains.

From your perspective, is there any risk or issue exporting IPAM data from the old deployment into the two new deployments?

I haven't used IPAM much at all so not sure what to consider when doing this.

There shouldn't be -- if you have concerns about the operation and have access to some sort of lab environment I would of course recommend trying there first. Note, you SHOULD be able to install the product with a free trial license and there are some decent free hypervisor options out there for creating your own lab. I have been using Oracle Virtualbox at home, but I am pretty sure there are others.

In IPAM only your ip are maintainded in CSV format you may export it from your previous version and import the same on the new IPAM as manual importing is supported,

But I would suggested to add DHCP server for more easy and better appoach.

How many subnets are we talking about?

I would build out my hierarchies first and then migrate the subnets into the hierarchies.

I don't think that you will need all IPs and subnets from the old deplyment, the same information in both 2 new separate deployments.
Another approach.
Split the initial IPAM DB in 2 different hierarchy trees. Populate each of this with needed/specific subnetes, IPs...

and after export each one and then inport one by one in your new deployments
