Vertiv Watchdog Temperature Sensor

We have Vertiv Watchdog Temperature sensor that shows up as a decimal (75.5 Fahrenheit) in Watchdog's monitor. We added the Watchdog temperature sensors to SolarWinds Orion to monitor and send alerts to the team. The temperature sensor is showing up with non-decimal format (755) and that throws off the alerting (since it thinks it is at 755 degrees).

I've reached out to Vertiv, they said that the product is no longer supported and that they usually ask customers to modify the software (in this case, SW Orion) to convert integer values to decimal. I tried asking Orion support and they said that it wasn't possible. I was hoping anyone could help me figure out how to do this.

Assuming this is a custom SNMP monitor, you're looking at doing a Transform function, which is available in the platform.

It should be a pretty fix for you.

1. Open the Universal Device Poller on your main Orion server.

2. Go through the Transform Results Wizard to make a new value.

3. Use the new field created to graph and alert off of. (So use WatchDogTempConverted instead of WatchDogTemp.)

Thanks so much! The transform was what I needed, now I need to work with SolarWinds support to find out why the temperature gauge stops working when I apply the transform to the gauge, I get an error message: "No pollers assigned or no statistic results. Click edit button to change universal device poller assignment!"

I guess there would be another step that might either seem implied or not necessary:

2.5. Assign the new transform poller to all the nodes that already have the first poller.

I hope that's your issue!
