Migrating to new environment and devices are in unknown status.

I am in the middle of migrating to a new environment. We have some of our devices in the new environment that are showing Node status is Unknown. When I change the status and response Time from ICMP to SNMP it goes into a up status. In the current environment the nodes have status and response Time set to ICMP and they are showing up there. I am able to ping the devices from the polling engines they are assigned too.

Any Idea on why that is or what I should check.

hmm. That doesn't make sense at all. It works for SNMP but not for ICMP on the new environment. And you confirmed that they can be pinged from the new environment. All the other recommendations below make sense generally but it seems to be the SNMP works, but not the ICMP which is really weird. The only thing I can think of is the ICMP packet size.

You can also try to do a tracert of device from the old environment and the new one to see which devices they hop into and compare the two,

Try pinging them from the new Solarwinds Environment.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am able to ping them from the polling engines they are assigned to.

Check the creds are imported/assigned correctly

Check the devices which are grey arent all clusted on one polling engine

Check if those devices have security on them to only talk to the previous environment's Ip/hostname/cert/etc

Check if you can test connection in edit node successfully
