Access Points are Showing down on WLC even those up and fine.

Hello All,

Facing issue on AP's status.

Access point devices which are monitoring from WLC are showing down in the console, but WLC and AP's are up and running fine on actually.

Communication between the AP's, WLC and SolarWinds server is fine. 

And we have alerts on all of the AP's down. 

Can you please help to validate the issue.

Question/s:
- Is this happening to random AP's or specific Wireless Controllers (specific brand or model, or completely random)? Or all?
- Are there similar WLC's where the AP's are also the same? If yes, are the same AP's affected? If not, compare the non-working one to a working one and compare the difference, it may just be with the configuration. Or it may be because of the OIDs being polled.


Possible approach 1:
- Collector service crashing and unable to collect Thin AP information as well as other information in Orion
- Please, refer to the documentation below that explains steps to fix the collector service in case you encounter the mentioned error. If still the same, open a support ticket.

Possible approach 2:
- Verify SNMP data provided by wireless controller thru the OIDs required by NPM using SNMP walk. OID used by the affected WLC may be an Out of the box OID and may not be the correct OID for it.

1. Run SNMPWalk on the affected wireless controller
2. Compare the resulting file with the OIDs required by NPM

- Check with WLC manufacturer, get the OIDs for the WLC, compare with the one on the SNMPWalk, if different then try creating a UnDP and assign it to the node. Check the results after. If still the same, open a support case for further investigation.

Then consider configuring Advanced alerts for Thin Access Points. 
Can also create an alert for a single controller when its thin AP is down.
