Need to create a view from 2 custom property values.

Question

I am wanting to create a view on my summary page that shows nodes are up or down depending on 2 custom property values. I have different departments that have different nodes that, that team only wants to look at and not all the nodes I have in SolarWinds. I am using Version 2025.0;

Alternatively, you can create a filtered view and assign it to that team (provided you have windows groups setup and the users are divided correctly.) I have used team views in the past to great effect, and it provided the ability for multiple teams to still see all the 'stuff' during troubleshooting.

Also assigning Limitations to windows groups is definitely easier than assigning it to individual accounts.

Lastly - I also recommend the virtual classrooms and training that is in the academy.

The approach will be to use accounts to limit the devices each department can view.

For example: Dept A, Dept B, and Managers.

First create SolarWinds groups that contain the devices you want the individual depts to see. Documentation Create Groups.

Settings - All Settings - Manage Groups - Add New Group. Name your group, click next and Add Dynamic Query. This is where you will reference the custom properties that classify your nodes.

Once you build all your Groups that contain their respective devices (including one that contains everything for the Managers) then we apply these groups to accounts as view limitations.

For example have a few Windows Active Directory groups created with their respective members. Add those accounts to SolarWinds and then apply a view limitation on each. The view limitation will be based on using SolarWinds Groups. I like to use the limitation Group of Groups. This will limit that account to only see the different devices that are specified in each group.

Thank you for the response, but I am not sure how to do what you wrote in the response. Can you let me know where I need to make these dynamic queries? I have only been using SolarWinds for about 5 months. Also, when I make this query, will the results be able to be shown on a manager dashboard?
