Microsoft 365 Monitoring?

I am wondering if there are admins out there successfully monitoring Microsoft 365?

I do have some key areas that am attempting to setup.

First would be pulling the Microsoft Entra Connect sync status into a dashboard with the ability to alert if not syncing within a given timeframe.

I can get environment status via Microsoft Graph but is there a good way to list unresolved issues?

Any examples or pointers would be appreciated.

You could try this script :

This script checks the status of the last directory sync and outputs a result that SolarWinds can pick up.

PowerShell Script: Check-EntraSyncStatus.ps1

# Check if the AD Sync module is installed
Import-Module ADSync -ErrorAction Stop

$SyncStatus = Get-ADSyncScheduler

# Extract key metrics
$LastSyncTime = $SyncStatus.LastSyncTime
$LastSyncResult = $SyncStatus.LastSyncResult
$SyncEnabled = $SyncStatus.SyncCycleEnabled
$SyncInterval = $SyncStatus.CustomizedSyncCycleInterval

# Prepare status message
if ($LastSyncResult -eq 0 -and $SyncEnabled) {
Write-Output "OK: Last sync was successful at $LastSyncTime. Sync cycle is enabled. Interval: $SyncInterval"

1. Save the script (e.g., Check-EntraSyncStatus.ps1) on the server you want to monitor.

2. In SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM):

Add a "Windows Script Monitor".

Point it to this script.

Set Output type to Statistic or Text (depending on what you want SolarWinds to display).

3. Use the exit codes to trigger alerts:

0 = OK

1 = Warning

2 = Critical

After you've done this you can just drop the script monitor component into a dashboard.

Then create an alert based upon the success / warning or failure of the component.
