I can't monitoring a windows server with local admin account but with a domain admin account I can.

I have HCO and I want to monitor some Windows server 2019 but for politics I need to use a Local admin account, but I can't monitoring. I have the ports opned, and the WMI active in the windows server target.

When I use a Domain admin account I can see the servers to monitor, but with the local admin account I can´t, I added my local admin account to Administration group and remote management users group.

Local admin account need something more for the monitoring a windows server?

Try creating a duplicate local credential on the solarwinds server. Same username and password.

So like this.

TARGETMACHINE\SWUSER
SOLARWIRDSSERVER\SWUSER

And then when you add a node on solarwinds, try using SWUSER as the service account or try tricking it by using .\SWUSER.

Hi,
Is the Local Administrator account you are using Local Admin on the target Server? Try using the WBEMTEST Tool to test access. It may help you to understand where the issue lies:

solarwindscore.my.site.com/.../Testing-WMI-Connectivity

I think in SolarWinds when you create the WMI object you would need to use ".\" in front of the user name. So say your local account is Solar (and a member of administrators) you would add it in to SolarWinds as

.\Solar

The biggest pain on that would be whenever it is time to rotate passwords. You would need to replace it on each individual server, so monitoring would break while you go through that process. It would definitly be a bit better and more secure to create a domain account and control via GPO on which systems it is a local administrator on.

thanks for your recommendations, I created a case with support, but either they couldn't do something, so they recommend me used an agent, this was the unique solution
