Our nodes are grouped as "sites" in the folder structure and I would like to create a way of viewing information specifically for our "data centre" sites.
Ideally, I wanted a copy of the "Network" menu and submenus, that could be called "DC Networks" and then use page restrictions set to "Groups of Groups" to "dc1, dc2 dc3, etc." so that all of the pages I bring up from this menu are only reflective of the DC's.
I've hit some issues...
- There doesn't seem to be a way of adding a new main heading under the menu system... I can reassign a new "menu" that I've created to one of the existing menus... e.g. assigning "DataCentre_TabMenu" (the new menu I created) to "Cloud" and my menu does then appear under Cloud - but it is misleading/confusing for users and the "Cloud" heading cannot be changed.
- Any items that I add to my new menu e.g. "Network top 10" can be edited under the "edit page" option to set the "group of groups" restriction, but I've found that this restriction then applies to any other instances of the saem item in other menus - i.e. the main "Networks" menu is also then restricted to just DC items.
- Similarly, if I open the main "Network top 10" and add a sub-page, and apply restrictions to the sub-page, the restriction also gets added to the parent page.
Has anyone else had experience of setting up pages/menus for DC specific monitoring and care to share how they did it?
Has anyone used the "restrictions" setting within page settings to achieve this without impacting any other instances of the use of the widgets/pages within that page?
