Down interfaces will be disappeared on Orion map after a short time

Hi everyone, I recently joined a new company that uses SolarWinds version 2024.4.1. I am facing a significant issue.

As shown in the attached images, the TanUyen switch (Cisco 2960X) has a link connected to PhuGiao (Cisco IE5000), which is discovered via topology. The interface went down, showing a red link on the map. However, after 30 minutes, the link disappeared from the map entirely.

I raised a technical support ticket, but they only suggested creating manual links. Is there a way to configure the settings to keep downed links visible on the map without manually creating them?

Personally, I'd push back at support.

We have 100's of "Intelligent Maps" maps using mostly manual links BUT have never witnessed any automatic links disappearing? Sounds like a cop-out to me. @jvb and/or @chad.every - have you heard anything about this?

It's because the link is no longer a "connected entity" So it removed the link. I had a ticket with support over this exact same thing.

Sorry for the late response. I found out what was happening. When my colleagues replaced former layer2 switches with new layer3 switches, they didn't remove them as nodes on SolarWinds. Maybe network links were corrupted. All I had to do was remove and rediscover them on SolarWinds.

To access the map settings:

Go to Settings > All Settings > Orion Maps Management

or

Open an existing Orion Map, click the gear icon, or use the Map Toolbar Settings inside the map editor.
