How Solarwinds calculate the average cpu and memory load values in table report.

Dear Folks,

I know the general formula for calculating the average value from peak and minimum values-   Average Load=Min Load+Max Load/2.

I would like to know how SolarWinds calculates the cpu and memory load.

for example, I have a server with total 24 CPU cores. The min and max and average cpu load is as shown in the below image. If I go with the above formula I get 5 as cpu average, but solarwinds is calculating the average value as 3.71 %.

Can someone please help me to understand the calculation that is being done by the solarwinds.

1. The CPU utilization is stored in the [dbo].[CPULoad] table.
 • The Average CPU load is from the AvgLoad.
 • The Peak CPU Load is from MaxLoad.
2. Calculation of average CPU load:
 • [Sum of the AvgLoad] / [Number of data point of the AvgLoad]
3. Peak CPU Load:
 • It will take the highest number in the MaxLoad.
 • If the node have multi CPU, the data in the MaxLoad is the average of all CPU.
