Node has been disconnected, but it still shows green

Question

I have node added to Solarwinds, and I'm using ICMP to poll the device. The polling agent is a VM on my server. Between them are some switches and a router. I wanted to test if the device would go down when I shut the trunk connected to it, but Solarwinds is showing me that the device is still green. I'm also running SNMPc Management Console, and that will show the device go down. I can't ping the device any longer, and the trunk port is definitely admin down. My polling time is set to 30 seconds, but it still shows green.

The best thing to do is to go to edit the node and recheck that SNMP or WMI etc is connecting using the set credentials within the node. it could be unreachable but not able to show it as down because of the loopback etc

Depends on the polling IP.  If the polling IP is a loopback, then it will find the best path to the device - even if the trunk is down.

Have you tried to ping the device from the solarwinds poller that this node is on?
