Can DPA monitor and alert on table growth and data usage?

Question

We're looking to track table growth over time, and alert on sudden spikes in data growth.  We also want to track and alert on data usage (i.e. queries against the data).  Is there a way to leverage DPA to accomplish either of these?  If so, has anyone done either of these using DPA?  I know DPA can do custom metrics, but I have no clue how ;) .

It looks like that alert could tell you when the size of an object exceeds a threhold. Here is a series of 2 alerts, 1 for collecting historical data, and 1 for calculating the growth - Collector Alert that never fires, it just collects data: (+) SQL Server Table Size Collector - Custom Alerts - Database Performance Analyzer - THWACK - Alert that uses data from the collector alert to calculate growth and alert on it  (+) SQL Server Table Growth - Custom Alerts - Database Performance Analyzer - THWACK
