Issue: connections between switches are missing L2 information
Environment: SolarWinds NTM 2.4;NPM 2024.4.0
Sure, I can help with that! Here's a more conversational version of your scenario:
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Thwack, so please bear with me if I'm not following the usual way to ask for help with Network Topology Mapper (NTM).
I've had no issues using NTM with Cisco devices via CDP. However, I'm currently evaluating NTM with LLDP on D-Link devices and running into some problems. I'm really keen on getting this tool purchased, but I need to resolve these issues first to justify the investment.
Here's what's happening:
After running a network discovery, NTM plots Sw1 and Sw2, but it shows two connections between them, even though there's only one. This is how it's mapped in NTM:
- SW1 port 8 -> unknown
- SW2 port 16 -> unknown
Additionally, NTM is labeling these connections as an ether-channel, even though there's just one physical connection.
I've attached a Word document that might help clarify the situation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
