DHCP scope nearly full email alert content

I have set up a SAM component monitor emal alert which sends an email saying this:

Component Warning: Server Scope is Almost Full of Application "Windows DHCP Server" on dhcpsrv1.domain is currently in a state of "Up".

We only use SAM monitoring, not IPAM. Is there a way of including the scope name in the alert email using variables?

Actually maybe... that component is a Windows Event component. And there is a variable that can display the entire event message in your email. I don't know if event 1020 includes the scope name but you can put this in your email and simulate a test to see if it is. If not... then I would recommend writing a PowerShell script to check if the scope is full and if so, grab the name of scope since this is windows and should be able to pull that off.

Thanks for the reply. I added ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.WindowsEventMessages} to the alert email, but the entry displays a blank line. How would I go about using Powershell to send an email alert from Solarwinds? I know Powershell ok, but not how to use it within Solarwinds.

Are you using a Component Alert? It will only work for a component alert (not application alerts). Also, I would check the event for details first... you can check the event message by drilling down into the component details page and theres a widget called "Event Log Message Details" which will list the matched/found events. You can see the message body here. Or you may have to click the event in this table to view the full body.

PS script is going to be quite a bit more work, i'd only resort to that if you can verify the event message does not contain the scope. You can also go onto the dhcp server and browse the event log for event id 1020 to see what info is contained in the body of the message.

I'm using a component alert ok. In the "Event Log Message Details" widget it does contain the scope ok.
