Assign ownership to application?

Question

Following the training video on defining alerts, I created a custom property for "system_owner" to govern who gets alerts when a node goes critical.  This approach works great for specific nodes or devices.  Is there a similar way to assign ownership to an application or component within a node?  I want to send all alerts related to SQL Server or IIS to the applications team.  Is this possible?

and if you don't want to manage multiple application alerts, you can always have a custom property of "system_owner_email" and put the Distribution List for that specific group there.  In the Email alert action, use the custom property variable in the "To:" field and there you go.  No need for multiple alerts where the only difference is the email target.

Once you have setup a Application monitor in SAM you can assign Custom_Properties you have created to the Application monitor. I use this method when assigning tickets from SolarWinds to Service NOW so the ticket automatically gets assigned to the correct group. In the Application monitor select manage custom properties and assign what's needed. Each application type can have it's own application individual monitor or grouped together if needed in case it's server related or App Team related it can be assigned differently.
