Using automation to monitor SolarWinds services on multiple servers

Instead of checking if all services are running on each server by opening Orion "Service Manager", we'd like to use scripting to automate this process, so we could have the results in a file (CSV or XLS).

Is there any way to achieve this by using SWQL or scripting (Python, Powershell) ?

Use the powershell Get-Service command and place the output into a .CSV file.

If you have access to SAM, you can use the following templates to monitor these services within SolarWinds:

Orion Observability - Main Polling Engine
Orion Observability - Additional Polling Engine
Orion Observability - Addition Website

We have ours set up to monitor each type of server and use the following SWQL to check the services daily as a maintenance item:

Main Polling Engine:

I've also done it locally via PowerShell like @bobmarley suggested. Something like this could be run on each server:

$services = Get-Service | Where-Object { $_.DisplayName -like "SolarWinds*" }

# Select relevant service details
$servicesStatus = $services | Select-Object DisplayName, Name, Status

$servicesStatus | Export-Csv -Path $outputFile -NoTypeInformation

I would just double check the $services variable to make sure that condition matches all of the services... pretty sure it would miss a few if you just look for "SolarWinds", but that should give you a starting point

There are some SAM templates you can use as well Shared Application Monitor Templates on thwack I have these running. I think I modified them a bit on mine but its a good start. If you have HCO you can always run these on your free Test environment against Prod as a 'second opinion' as well. Otherwise just pull up the service monitor on your pollers and make your own, that's pretty easy too. Once you get the data into the database you can always make you reports and alerts from there. The ones @flackovic supplied also look like another perfect way to do it. I got the above off SAM here
