Hello All:
I am very green to SolarWinds, migrating our monitoring off another tool, and have been struggling to establish comparable monitoring for our small farm of Cisco UCS domains. So far I have learned how to add the domains where the virtual IP is an "ICMP" node with "Poll for UCS", then adding the FIs as "SNMP and ICMP" nodes without "Poll for UCS" so I have those fundamentals. What I am grappling with is how to capture fault codes or their related content and send SMTP alerts on them like the product that we are moving away from.
I contacted support and opened ticket only to be told that what I am asking for is outside the scope of their support and that the Thwack community is the preferred method of discovering how to do what I am trying to accomplish. They even explained that they have no documentation about the UCS_Events table and related view in the Orion database, which is odd and disappointing since it appears to contain the data that we are looking for, but only intermittently.
Searching through the Thwack forums, I do see a handful of others who have apparently done what I am trying to accomplish, but those solutions are 6-14 years old and don't seem compatible with the current SolarWinds platform.
Can anyone share their current solutions for monitoring Cisco UCS domains, point me towards more detailed information for these devices, and/or perhaps explain the UCS_Events table and how it is populated? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
