Windows servers are failing with WMI

Question

Hey Experts ,

Need your help in fixing WMI issue

Our Windows servers are failing even after the service accounts and ports are working fine. Troubleshoot we did from our end:-

Required ports has been opened , we checked through telnet , WMI services are running , WBEMTEST is working , Service accounts are already a part of local admin group but still we see WMI is failing in our SolarWinds console.

Could someone please help us to fix the isse?

This is what I would recommend to get a detailed error message.

-Sign into your solarwinds server and open LogAdjuster. Set CoreJobs2 to DEBUG, save it.

-Hit test button on the credentials in the web console to get a test failed.

-Open this file location and Ctrl+End to view the last entries, it will print a more detailed message about whats failing. Maybe its a solarwinds JobEngine or Collector component but this should help provide more context: 
C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\Core.Jobs2_*.log

Is this where you are seeing the Test Failed message? On the node's configuration page?

When you tested with WBEMTEST did you use IP address or the systems HOSTNAME? If IP address test using the hostname instead and see if it is successful.

If you ping the target server from the Polling engine, are you getting the correct IP address info? If you do a reverse lookup ping, "ping -a IPaddress" it should resolve the IP address to the hostname of the system. If the hostname differs from the one that's set on the server I would look at your DNS records on the Active Directory controller and remove stale entries.
