Why Am I Getting a White Screen When Launching a Java Web Start Session in SolarWinds N-Central?

Hi everyone,

When using SolarWinds N-Central and selecting either Custom or Remote Desktop from the connection options, a .jnlp file is downloaded. 

When connecting to a server, you can choose the connection type from a dropdown menu. For this discussion, we willl focus on the Custom and Remote Desktop options.

After selecting either Custom or Remote Desktop, a Java Web Start file gets downloaded. Typically, double-clicking this file launches a Java Web Start session. However, instead of the session loading as expected, we are encountering a white screen after launching the jnlp file.

However, when I double-click to launch the Java Web Start session, I encounter a white screen instead of the expected interface. Has anyone faced this issue before? What steps can I take to resolve it?"

I dont believe this form covers N-Central. You will need to query on N-Able's forums https://me.n-able.com/s/n-central since its no longer Solarwinds N-Central but N-Able N-Central. It may be worth starting a chat with a N-Central agent or log a ticket to get someone to assist.

Its been over a year and a half since Ive used N-Central but if I recall, I never used the Java remove desktop to connect to endpoints(I don't think we had it working). I used the Take Control feature which is integrated with the agent you install on a server/workstation. If memory serves, there should be a default setting in the devices setting page for Remote control and there should be a drop down arrow on the take control button to choose which protocol you want to use.
