Alerts delay to Netcool

We often experience delay in sending the alerts from Solarwinds to Netcool.

In the past , after every windows patching , the issue observed either on same day or next day .

In some cases , the few noisy devices sents loads of of logs to SolarWinds.

But we are not sure the root cause for this issue.

Could someone please advise if you had experienced this issue .

Do you reboot your windows machines after patching? If you don't I think you should or at least introduce a monthly maintenance activity to reboot your SolarWinds windows machines once in a month as part of best practices.

Thanks for responding , Yes , Its a monthly activity , and server reboot happens after every patch.

The environment is HA with active and standby . Standby servers updated on day 01 , and active servers on day 02 . On day 02 , services failover to standby and then fallback after the patch update and reboot.

Not sure if this is an automated, I mean server automatically reboots after patching. I honestly hate this as we don't have a control on it.

I control this manually, I have a similar setup of HA. After patching firstly I break the HA, stop solarwinds services on standby reboot it. Then I enable HA, failover to standby and do the same on main poller. I know not a great suggestion, by doing this I make sure i dont have a lag and my main/standby pollers are working intact with any issues as such. But more manual activity involved.

Possibly check the alerts in the database and compare the time it was generated -vs- the time Netcool received it. Determine if the delay is in the SolarWinds side or the Netcool side.
