How to configure device not responding for SNMP alerts

Requirement is to send a trap notification if any device added via SNMP is not responding to SNMP requests. This is important as the lack of response could impact performance metrics, interface, or port monitoring.

I attempted to use conditions such as "Node child status" being unknown or "Overall Hardware Status (Node)" set to "Could Not Poll." However, I am still seeing alerts even when the device is responding to SNMP. Could you please provide suggestions on how to address this.

For nodes with SNMP not responding, an alert or report based on the polling status (LastSystemUpTimePollUtc) could help.

I've created some automation running on a schedule in Jenkins trying to automatically resolve polling issues.

Down below is the basic query I use to identify broken polling. This not only works for SNMP, but also agents and WMI

SELECT    Nodes.Uri   , Nodes.DisplayName   , Nodes.NodeID   , Nodes.EngineID   , Nodes.ObjectSubType   , Nodes.CustomProperties.Node_not_polling    FROM Orion.Nodes AS Nodes   WHERE (HourDiff(LastSystemUpTimePollUtc,getutcdate()) > 2)   AND (Nodes.Status= '1' OR Nodes.Status= '0') --0 = Unknown, 1 = Up    AND Vendor NOT LIKE 'VMware Inc.'   AND Nodes.CustomProperties.Node_not_polling = False
