I tried to re-install SW after an un install and now I am getting this error. I have no clue and a demo on Monday 12/23

SolarWinds® Platform Database FAILED

Database configuration failed:
• A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The wait operation timed out.)

Any ideas? I am not a DB admin type and have no clue as to what to do next.

Do I do another un/install and wipe out the solarwinds directy in between?

Please help, i won't have a happy customer if I can't this Evaluaion Copy working, the license is less than 30 days old. It was working and then it stopped a few days ago.

What do I need to delete?

Looks like that you cannot connect to the sql server anymore. Was the SQL server installed on the same server as the SolarWinds Server? Make sure you can reach port 1433 on the sql server if it is separate server. I have a bad feeling about the uninstall and reinstall situation that you are facing. If the sql server is separate ( i hope it is) and port 1433 can be reached, see if you can log into that sql server, open sql studio and see if the solarwinds databases are there.

I know you mentioned that you have a demo on 12/23, but you will need to post some more information about the server and sql configuration (are they on same server, etc.).

If this was a sql express installation - there are some severe limits on the amount of data that it will store. If it reached that limit - that could explain your original problem too.

I installed the lite version like SolarWinds suggested. The Database manager that came with SolarWinds is showing not databases when before it was showing dozens.
When I click "Add Orion Server" it states "Unable to retrieve default connection string"
It is like SolarWinds forgot to populate the database. But I guess since it could not connect, error 26?, then it was unable to fill in the db's and tables.

If you still have the database intact you can try doing a new install and connecting to it. You will need the original database connection parameters and connection info. If you have not already deleted anything try running the Configuration Manager by RDP'ing into the server and running it. When you run it connect to the database with the correct info.
