My colleague and I are having an issue. We currently deploy a specific vendors switch which has an aversion to backing up every line of config when NCM pulls it back using SSH. To get around this we have managed to change the backup protocol to TFTP using a connection profile. We don't want to have to manually apply this to that vendor every time we enrol one so we set up a device template within which we defined the connection profile, (you would think that the problem is solved, unfortunately not).
For a little bit more background on this... We deploy 2 different vendors, one of them does work with SSH and ideally we would like to keep the encryption for this flow. Both switches use the same username and password (this is a requirement for our setup). Herein lies the problem, the device template gets applied but it then selects the the connection profile where SSH is selected, not the one where TFTP is selected.
We contacted SolarWinds support about this and all they said is that we can apply the connection profile manually.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Have they been able to fix it?
